Gay Lynn is a missionary occupational therapist working in Jos, Nigeria with the mission organization SIM. Many years back, one of the doctors at the hospital in Jos, Dr. Bill Ardill, invited me to visit and help with their burn program and handed me over to his therapist, Gay Lynn. It was a match made in heaven for me because she shares a passion for effective rehabilitation for burn survivors that I believe is the key to a successful end product. Nigeria is like so many countries in that too many burn patients suffer from horribly deforming contractures that could have been prevented with proper preventative therapy. Gay Lynn already had the perfect set up for sewing custom made pressure garments with a partner program already in place training widows to sew. Her staff quickly got the idea of how to make the pressure garments and out of that - The Healing Touch Ministry was born. I am very proud of the work that Gay Lynn is able to do in the midst of great obstacles and look forward to continuing to collaborate. Look under education to see some excellent resources that Gay Lynn has produced for caregivers in areas where medical care and up to date methods are limited.
